Your Questions, Answered

  • Riorik’s Custom Proxies is primarily about creating high quality custom Magic: the Gathering ™ playtest proxy cards using a variety of AI-generated art with real Magic cards.

  • Yes. All of our Magic: the Gathering ™ playtest card collections come in 3 different designs and each design is offered in foiled and non-foiled.

BUT, foiling is only applied to the front face of each card. Any two-sided cards will only be foiled on the front. This is due to restrictions with the printer that does allow for selective foiling within a print job. It is all-or-nothing for each side.

  • Not currently. Different finishes tend to have different costs associated with them that may change over time. To ensure we can offer the cheapest prices possible while maintaining the highest quality, we have opted to not include too many varieties that would require constant management and review.

  • We use standard blue-core cardstock similar in size and thickness to standard, official Magic cards.

  • Yes. Our card dimensions are the same width, height, and thickness as official cards. The will fit any sleeve that a typical Magic card would fit.

  • Some do but not all.

We are working to standardize our deck designs to include tokens but this is a work in progress.

Decks with tokens may have slightly higher prices than decks that don’t because of the added cost related to the extra cards.

  • No. Our collections are sold as sets only. Due to printing and shipping costs, it would be too expensive to offer singles with a single card costing $15 or more when you factor print costs, material costs, taxes, and shipping.

Our goal is make our cards affordable to players and $15 for a single proxy doesn’t meet that goal.

  • Most orders are received within 3 weeks from the order date but may take slightly longer. Each order is printed on demand from our professional printing partner in China. It can take a few days from the time of submission for the job to be physically printed and prepared for shipping. Then, the package has to be shipped from China to the destination country. This means that there is usually a couple days required to pass customs before it can finally be shipped to its final destination (i.e. your place).

While we would love to be able to guarantee faster delivery times, we have opted for production quality over delivery speed. We feel very strongly that the quality of cards our print partner produces is worth the extra few days wait.

  • We are all constantly building new decks as new sets are released. If we find a deck build that is successful, or at least fun, we will look into creating a proxied version of it. This means that new deck builds are not something that can be done on a regularly scheduled basis. All new deck/product announcements will be made on our social media pages so we do encourage everyone to follow us on one or more of social platforms.

  • Yes. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase (or your spouse disapproves) within the first 30 days, we do offer full refunds for the purchase price of the deck only once the full deck is received back to our studio. Refunds do not include the shipping costs paid when purchased and the buyer is responsible for any shipping costs to return the product to our studio.

Refund payments will be issued within 7 days of receipt of the returned item.

  • No. Exchanges are not permitted. Sales are submitted straight from the website to the print queue for maximum efficiency and minimal wait. To change decks after purchase would require additional processes that would incur extra fees would significantly increase the total purchase price.

  • While custom deck orders are not part of our standard offerings, we are open to the idea. Use the Contact form to reach out to us with the details of your request so that we can review it and determine if that is something we are willing to accept.

Custom deck orders are subject to additional fees and will likely have a higher per card price compared to our existing offerings.

  • Yes. We do use multiple AI tools to generate our art but all art is AI generated.

  • No. We do not currently do custom builds or use artwork that our studio did not generate with our AI tools.

  • No. All art used for any of our cards is reserved just for the cards.

We do have thousands of images that we created but did not use. We are looking at how we can offer those images for purchase but that may be a future addition if found feasible.

  • Absolutely not.

Our mission has always been to only create proxies of decks that we build and use from cards in our own collections. So until one of us own the Power Nine none of our decks, proxy or not, will include those cards.

  • Some decks may include cards from the Reserve List. We do own cards from the list and since our mantra is if we own we can play it, some decks may include those cards.

  • Yes. Our decks may include game changers. Each gallery and product page should include a link to the deck’s Moxfield page where you can view the cards in the deck to see which are currently on the Game Changers and/or Banned list.

  • We are firm believers that if a card was printed and we own it that we should be able to use it. While we understand what Wizards of the Coast is attempting to do with the banned list, it does not mean that we should let our purchased cards go to waste.

  • Platforms like Facebook, Google, and even eBay have differing rules about what they are willing to advertise, list, or sell. Since many of our designs include scantily clad women, other more family-friendly platforms may prevent these designs from appearing.

  • No.

All of our cards are based on legitimate cards. Our process ensures that each card’s contents are consistent with the standard printed versions of the same name.

  • While we strive to make sure our cards are 100% accurate, we recognize that errors may occur. If you spot something wrong on one or more of our cards, we would very much like for you to report the error(s) to us so that we may make the necessary corrections.

Use the Contact form to submit the details of our mistake to us. Please include the card name, the set the error is found in, and the nature of the error in the body of your message. We will review the card for accuracy and quality based on that report and fix any errors found.

  • Not currently. While other games may be added to our offerings later, we only do Magic: the Gathering ™ playtest proxies today.

  • Absolutely not. We are strong believers that proxies should look like proxies and not like real cards. We do not produce replicas of official cards, only reimagined versions of official cards.
